The C.A.L.M. Framework

At the heart of the book is Ross's original C.A.L.M. framework, a simple framework to help goalkeepers stay calm and confident under pressure.

Control

Focus on what you can control: your effort and your attitude.

Adapt

Adjust to the game, the moment and the pressure in front of you.

Lock In

Stay focused and in the moment when it matters most.

Move On

You can control most things in football, but the two things you can always control are your effort and your attitude.

The Last Line combines original research with coaching experience from the goalkeeping world.

Original Surveys

Two surveys of goalkeepers: 291 responses on match-day nerves and anxiety, and 72 responses on mistakes.

Expert Interviews

Interviews with Eric Steele, former Manchester United goalkeeping coach, and Craig Gordon, among others.

Coaching Philosophy
